What is the Difference Between Ramadan and Normal Days?
Important Guidance for a Muslim
The blessed month of Ramadan is not just any ordinary month. It's a special opportunity. But many people spend it just like normal days.
Let's see what difference a Muslim should make between Ramadan and the rest of the year.
What Are People's Problems?
Many individuals spend Ramadan just like any other time: the same routine, the same tasks, no special change. But is this correct?
From blessed Hadith, we learn that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would start preparing one or two months before Ramadan. He ﷺ would finish His worldly tasks so that He could worship more during this month. This teaches us clearly Ramadan is not an ordinary month.
Allah says in the Kalam Pak: "شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ" (Ramadan is the month in which the Sacred Text was revealed). And in Hadith, it's mentioned that in this month, the devils are chained. What a great ease this is; it becomes naturally easier for a person to do good deeds.
Look at the youth today. There's no time throughout the year. From morning to the office, from the office till night: online work, meetings, deadlines. There's no chance to correct the recitation of Al-Kitab, improve prayer, or learn basic rulings.
Then Ramadan comes, and Allah creates a natural environment. The heart itself wants to learn. What a great blessing this is, and what a shame it would be to let it pass unused.
The Biggest Difference in Reward
This is a very big difference, friends. "Alhamdulillah" on normal days, if you recite "Subhan Allah", "Alhamdulillah", or "Astaghfirullah" once, it has one reward. But what is recited in Ramadan? There's a difference of earth and sky between that and normal days.
In narrations, it's mentioned that in this blessed month, the reward of voluntary acts becomes equal to obligatory ones, and the reward of obligatory acts increases seventy times. Subhan Allah! What a profitable deal this is!
We should benefit from this opportunity ourselves and also direct our parents toward it. Teach your children. Tell them how important this blessed month truly is.
As many people as are under your influence, it is your responsibility to help them learn about religion and spend this month better. Remember, we don't know whether the next Ramadan will be destined for us or not. Don't waste this opportunity.
Balance Between Worldly and Religious Education
Just think how much time we have spent on modern education. Ten to twelve years of school, then four years in university. In total, 16 to 18 years! And this is correct. It is necessary to live in the world.
But when it comes to the Kalam Allah and the Sunnah, the way of the Prophet ﷺ, can we not spare one month, two months, or even a few focused days? We prepare for worldly life for nearly two decades, but for eternal life, there's no time?
The world is necessary. Religion is also necessary. But religion should get priority.
This is why many families today are turning to online Quran classes so that religious education can continue even within a busy routine. Whether it's learning the meaning of the Sacred Text or improving recitation, online Quran learning makes it possible for everyone, everywhere.
